This past week was a little bit different for me since I had a houseguest. We ate out much, much more than usual and ate much, much more junk food than usual. I feel like a big puffy balloon! And there were lots of apples left in the fruit bowl. When life hands you old apples, make muffins.
This week I went to the 99 Cents Only store first and yaaaasssssssssssss it was a smart move. At first I was thrown off by the idea of food shopping at a dollar store because all I've known in Pittsburgh is the stank selection of HFCS-filled items at the Dollar General or wherever. But this 99 Cent chain in Southern CA is much different. I was able to get 3 packages of organic strawberries, 1 pack of organic blueberries, 4 boxes of organic graham crackers, 1 big jar of San Marzano tomatoes, and 2 pounds of trail mix - all for $10. All of those things were on my list and would have cost over $25 at Sprouts. I am officially a convert.
