Making Money

Until science finds a better way, the only way to get something done is to do it. So, you've trimmed as much as you can from your budget and the people at the library are tired of looking at you. You have eaten 10 PB&Js this week. You ride your bike to work. And you still can't make ends meet.

All that's left to do is make more money. Here's some ideas to get you started:

  • Ask for a raise at your current job.
  • Work overtime or pick up more shifts.
  • Hone your side hustle: Tutor high school students, shovel walkways, cut grass, clean houses, tackle a honey-do list, or grocery shop for busy folks. There is always something that someone would rather pay someone else to do.
  • Babysit: "Date night sitters" are always in demand and don't really do too much. Put the kids to bed and watch the family Netflix. Score!
If you've already done all this and nothing has worked, then you may need to make bigger life changes. Contact your local offices to see if you qualify for assistance. Seek out your local food bank and see what is available for you.

Not being able to pay your bills is a bad, bad feeling. It's also a feeling that most people understand and have dealt with themselves. Everyone has been in a tight spot! Don't be ashamed to ask for help.

What are some ways you've earned money on the side?
